We wish to thank everyone who came out to support your Jon at the Rye Hilton on Wednesday, October 21, 2009. As most of you are aware Jon fought a great fight (press release clips will be on the site shortly) and again was robbed of what was rightfully his, a W. His fight will be reviewed by the NYS Boxing Commission. Again, thank you for your continued support and check back for the press releases on this fight and news on Jon's next fight.
We wanted to thank everyone who came out to support Jon on February 28th at Roseland as the W he clearly earned was kept from him unfairly with the final scores of 59-55 and two judges scoring the fight 57-57, making it a draw.
If you missed this 6 round thriller make sure you get your tickets for October 21st before it is too late.
To contact Jon, email him at jon415@yahoo.com. To submit photos from any or all of Jon's fights, to have your website posted as a link or to send us an article we might have missed, please email us at the address above. Thanks for all of your continued support.
Here’s what reporters had to say about The Fighting Marine’s first fight, July 26th, 2006 at the Hammerstein Ballroom, NYC
FISTS FLY, FIGHTERS FALL AT "HEAVYWEIGHT EXTRAVAGANZA"
Any more shows like the one Cedric Kushner’s Gotham Boxing put on at Manhattan Center Wednesday night and the World Wrestling Federation better watch out. There were more thrills, spills, bodies slamming to the canvas, finishes you wouldn’t believe – and it was for real! Who knows, Newsday may even have to consider moving Boxing back above Lawn Croquette and Skittles. The evening did not begin too auspiciously, with the card being delayed about an hour by an oversight of not having the mandatory ambulance with stretcher available. But once the action began, it was an all-forgiving crowd. There were also some all-forgiving fighters. Like, for instance, in the opening 4-rounder you had two heavyweights who were all for giving the other guy as much leather as he could deliver.
But when you have a guy like Jon "The Fighting Marine" Schneider, a 197 ½ pound leatherneck from Yonkers making his professional debut, marching into the ring with an escort of full dress marines it has to be a cause for concern to a guy like Eddie Kimbrough, a 230-pounder from Milwaukee with an 0-1 record. Well, the bell rings and these two guys come out like it is Iwo Jima. And you know what happens at Iwo Jima. With wild, flailing punches coming from all directions and no let-up, it is quite a sight to see the smaller Schneider muscling Kimbrough around the ring. And then a howitzer lands – a right to Kimbrough’s jaw, then a left hook explodes on top of his head and the war is all over at 1:05 of the first round.Kimbrough does not sing "From The Halls Of Montezuma."
After a stuttering start to the proceedings, Cedric Kushner's Gotham Boxing, finally got underway. Problem was that the ambulance and stretcher that must be on call at every boxing show in New York had not arrived yet. After a delay things got underway with a bang. Of the eight fights on the show, six ended in early knockouts.
The Marines landed when "The Fighting Marine" Jon Schneider, 1-0 (1), Yonkers, NY, 197 ½, made his debut a successful one when he landed huge right that put Eddie Kimbrough's lights out, 0-2, Milwaukee, WI, 239. The fight ended at 1:05 of the first round of four. Cotton refereed.
George Kimball of thesweetscience.com described Jon's performance like this:
NEW YORK – Over the past two decades Cedric Kushner has carved out his own specialized niche in the boxing world. Whether he’s called them ‘Heavyweight Explosions’ or, in the case of Wednesday night’s card at the Manhattan Center, "Heavyweight Extravaganzas," the South African-born promoter has turned collecting second-tier heavyweights into a veritable art form.
Preceded into the ring for his pro debut by a marching color guard of fellow gyrenes in dress blues, Yonkers heavyweight Jon (The Fighting Marine) Schneider marched back out a minute and five seconds later, having laid waste to his Milwaukee victim Eddie Kimbrough (0-2). The two novice heavyweights traded nonstop leather while it lasted, but when Schneider caught Kimbrough with a solid right and followed it up with a left-right combination, he put him away for the night.
"The Marathon Extravaganza" November 3, 2006 at the world famous Roseland Ballroom, NYC
This fight was so short reporters can't seem to agree on the exact time of the KO. The only thing they CAN agree on is that it was less than 60 seconds.
Here is what one reporter had to say:
Jon "The Fighting Marine" Schneider,Yonkers, NY, 200, 2-0, 2 KO’s, came out like he was taking no prisoners, when he stopped Rajelio Brown, 205, 0-2, with a left hook to the body at 43 seconds of the first round.
George Kimball of thesweetscience.com enjoyed Jon's first fight so much he came back for the next and this is what he saw:
The next fight was even shorter. Bouncing back from his own trip to the canvas (slip, ruled referee Brown), heavyweight Jon (The Fighting Marine) Schneider bounced up to drill opponent Rogelio Brown with a pair of lefts that sent him to the canvas. Brown woozily made it to his feet, still shaking cobwebs from his head, and Earl Brown waved it off at 0:23 of the first. The Fighting Marine goes to 2-0, with Brown falling to 0-2.

THE FIGHTING MARINE vs TRAVIS WATERS
PARADISE THEATER, BRONX, NY
JULY 12, 2007
KO - ROUND 1 :40 seconds
Boxingscene.com had this to say about the July 12th KO "Semper-Fi", Yonkers Cruiserweight Jon "The Fighting Marine" Schneider, now (4-1, 3KO’s), blitzed his opponent, Travis Waters, and put him away in spectacular fashion scoring a KO 0:40 into round one.
TKO called at the end of Round 3 Christopher Roche of fightbeat.com was ringside and in an article he called "Trouble in Paradise," was able to put into words what he witnessed at the Paradise Theater that evening.
The undercard brought out the big guns as heavyweights Jon "The Fighting Marine" Schneider and Wade Gilbert did battle in a scheduled four rounder. Schneider, a southpaw from Yonkers, NY, used his straight left hand to pepper Gilbert’s face with welts until the bout was stopped after the third round. Schneider moved to 5-1, 4 KO’s and Gilbert fell to 1-1, 1 KO.
Robert Mladinich of thesweetscience.com, a big fan of Jon's boasts...
"The crowd-pleasing Schneider fights as if he is on automatic pilot and is fun to watch."
Arben Paloka at the Boxing Tribune enjoyed the fight but might be a little too soft for boxing! You can't feel bad when someone takes a beating!
Jon Schneider stopped Wade Gilbert at the end of the second round. He was able to lay a strong beating against his overmatched counterpart.
After a 4 round unanimous decision (40-34) against Clarence Moore, "The Fighting Marine" improves to (6-1, 4KO's)...all who came witnessed a great fight.
Thank you for your continued support.
Congrats to Jon on another First Round KO in an amazing :46. For those of you who were unable to witness the punishment Jeff Spiegel endured, you can check it out by registering at www.gofightlive.com, going to the fights section and choosing the Spiegel vs Schneider fight.
